Holiday Party

On Saturday, I went to my work holiday party. It was the first holiday party I've ever attended, so of course, picking what to wear was a nightmare, and my room was left looking like a tornado attacked. I ended up going with a pretty literal interpretation of "holiday" and picked a basic red dress and accessorized with ivory and gold. A pop of green with my envelope crossbody was perfect to carry my ID, keys and lipstick.

After 2 hours of traffic, we spent the evening eating, chatting, and playing games at Dave & Busters--it was a great night and I'm so glad I decided to go! Plus, I came home with a snazzy stainless steel travel mug (worth 750 tickets), so I'd say it was a pretty good night.

I get 3 days off of work, so I'm spending the first half of this week with friends and family (and lots of food, naturally).

Colorful Comfort

I wore this plain maxi dress and statement necklace combo while exploring downtown Pismo Beach a few weekends ago. Comfortable, yet colorful, it was perfect for an afternoon of brunch, farmers markets, and ice cream. This has been my go-to dress for spontaneous trips this summer. It's perfect to throw on for a hot day, easy to accessorize with simple or statement jewelry, and beyond comfortable for long car rides or afternoon walks.

Citrus

I have been searching for this J.Crew-inspired necklace everywhere, so when I finally found it at Charlotte Russe, I was beyond excited. The color, size, and price were all so perfect! This morning, I built my entire outfit around the necklace, and when I put it all together, all I could think of were oranges and grapefruit. All I need now is some yellow sandals for a touch of lemon. The vibrant coral and pink just reminded me of citrus. This calls for a trip to the farmer's market for some fresh fruit. Or a glass of orange juice will have to do for now. 

On another bright note, I posted three times this week! This makes me so happy, because it was my original goal when I started my blog to post at least three times a week. Seems like May has good things in store!

Mint

I've worn this outfit several times before, so I couldn't believe that I hadn't featured it on the blog earlier! I love peach and mint together, and this is really my go-to outfit when I don't know what to wear. When paired with flats, it's comfortable enough for class, but with some heels and a carry-all bag, it's perfect for a day of meetings. After a weekend full of meetings and events, a little gelato break was well-deserved and much-needed. 

We took a spontaneous trip to Laguna Beach on Sunday and stopped at Gelato Paradiso while we were there. The gelato was delicious and refreshing on such a beautiful day. I usually get cookies and cream or cookie dough, so my friends were surprised when I ordered mint chip. I told them I was being adventurous, but we both knew I just wanted my ice cream to match my pants.  

Colorful Living

Surprises are one of my favorite things, so when I received the most unexpected surprise this week, I couldn't help but wear bright and happy colors. I usually wear my pink pants with neutral color tops, but this time I decided to wear just as vibrant of a color on top. And the brightness of my outfit made my day even brighter! 

This weekend, I'm headed up to NorCal with my family for a mini vacation. I'm looking forward to a nice break and some family time after this crazy busy first week back at school since I didn't get too much of a spring break. Ghirardelli Square, here I come!

African Safari

When my friends saw my outfit today, they asked me if I was going on an African safari. Maybe it was the leopard print belt, maybe it was the fedora? Either way, now I have a strange urge to watch Animal Planet or animal videos on YouTube. 

On another note, I can't believe it's already March! While it's crazy how quickly 2013 is flying by, I'm definitely looking forward to shopping for spring, sunlight past 5:30pm, and the chance to wear more skirts!
