Plaid Layering

Kohl's flannel, clutch, and necklace, Forever 21 sweater and jeans, Rock and Republic pumps

Oh, a Monday morning after a crazy weekend is exactly that: a Monday morning. And by that I mean, no groceries in the house, barely any clean laundry, and blaming the alarm clock for being late--even though we all know you hit the snooze one too many times. But, it's these kinds of mornings that keep me going--When I know I can handle the crazy when it gets to be too much. It's having something to hold on too--a perfect memory, an extraordinary day in the middle of all the ordinary, or a special someone's smile--that keeps us moving forward on these frantic mornings.

Happy February, friends! Here's wishing you a month filled with love, lots of reds and pinks, and obnoxiously socially acceptable amounts of chocolate!

Feeling Blue

Kohl's dotted chambray and clutch, C Wonder sweater via TJ Maxx, H&M jeans, Rock and Republic pumps, Kate Spade watch

It's always so hard to pair a dark blue top with dark wash jeans, so when I bought this sweater, I was really only thinking about the polka dots. Clearly not the most practical shopper, guys. You should all know by now that I can't pass up a classic dotted print. So when this fantastic find caught my eye as I was walking out of TJ Maxx, my love (ok, ok, healthy obsession) for polka dots wouldn't let me leave without it. When I saw the C. Wonder tag on it, I knew I had scored. Designer dots at a discounted price? Someone pinch me!

I like how all the different shades of blue all come together here, and the juxtaposition of the preppy button down and layered sweater (and lots of dots!) with the distressed boyfriend jeans give a "laid-back-but-still-put-together" look. Because obviously, that's a real thing, guys. Ok, really, I just needed an alternative to dark wash denim, and these pants were the first thing I found.

What Does the Fox Say?

Old Navy fox sweater, Kohl's embellished blouse, Jessica Simpson dark wash skinnies, Rock and Republic pumps, Henri Bendel bag, Kate Spade watch and bangle, Burberry glasses

Ok, let me just state the obvious: there is a fox on my sweater. And, before anyone asks; Yes, half the reason (ok, maybe the only reason) I bought this is to have a post titled exactly what it is titled. So, now that I've admitted on the internet that I choose my clothes based on oddly popular YouTube videos, we can move on.

I was never a huge fan of layering my clothes because I felt like it created unnecessary bulkiness. But, now I love it to add an extra pop to my outfits! I paired this sweater with a hot pink blouse to pick up on the fox's glasses (foxes wear glasses?!) and to bring in some sparkle with the pearl embellished collar. Neutral accessories seemed like the way to go with such a quirky statement sweater, so I chose a simple bangle and gold watch with my Henri Bendel duffel.

Fall/Winter has been extremely mild here in SoCal, as expected, up until this past week where the temperature dropped dramatically. So, I've kind of just been pretending it's cold enough to wear sweaters and boots.

And I know what you're all thinking about the glasses. Totally on purpose to match the fox. Obviously.

Back to School: Transitions

Berry Blazer and stripe blouse c/o Charlotte Russe, H&M white jeans, Ruche green handbag, Rock & Republic white pumps, Target sandals, Tory Burch cuff, Kate Spade watch

I'm totally obsessed with this berry colored blazer. I know, I say that about a lot of things, but this time I'm serious. It's the perfect transition piece between summer to fall. And it matched with this velvet couch. I mean, what more could you ask for? Here I've worn it with bright white pants, but I can't wait to style it with darker denim and boots as it starts to cool down.

Speaking of transitions, this outfit is great from class to the office. Wear it with cute flats or sandals for a morning of trekking across campus, and swap for a pair of heels when you're headed to your internship or job! Plus, this green structured tote (my new favorite impulse buy!) is the most ideal size for a laptop, a planner and--you know me--a snack!

Speaking of more transitions, I'm moving out of my apartment of 2 1/2 years tomorrow. And I haven't packed up a single thing. Not even a blazer. Which is a problem considering half of my closet is blazers... Oh the predicaments of a style blogger--that should be a blog in itself. Wish me luck guys, and have a good weekend!

Gray Pants

Forever 21 Lace Peplum Top and necklace, H&M gray skinnies, Steve Madden clutch, Rock and Republic pumps, Kate Spade gold watch

With Graduation right around the corner, I have been completely swamped with final papers and assignments for this final quarter at UCI. So basically, blue jeans and cotton t-shirts have been my wardrobe staple lately. I wore this blue and gray ensemble the night of my birthday for a dinner at Sol, a fancy Mexican restaurant. Since then, these pants have become a new favorite. I never thought gray jeans could be so versatile, but I've worn them to meetings, concerts, and out to dinner multiple times, and I just can't get enough of them. Worn with darker colors they are perfect for the evening, and with a white button down and a colorful heel, they are completely appropriate for a day of meetings and errands.

I still can't believe I'm graduating next week. I'm looking forward to going dress shopping. Yes, I still don't have a dress. or shoes. Impulse buys will be my favorite this week. Or anytime, really.
